Arlington Visit

ToadDate 0221.05.07.17-TX

During our travels, we try to take time to visit with family and friends along our way. This week we made a stop in Arlington to visit with family. We spent a few days at the Texas Retired Masonic Center where Margaret lives. We went to see the play BUDDY: The Buddy Holly Story at the Artisan Theater in Hurst.

One of the cast members is Tevin Cates, Lewis’ great-nephew. Tevin has been performing in plays just about his whole life and recently spent two years working for Disney in Florida. Now he is back in Arlington and working for the theater in more ways than acting.

Called Lewis’ brother Don, Tevin’s dad, to let him know we were going to see the play and Don made arrangements to attend the same performance. It was great to spend some time talking with him after the show.

What can I say about the play? It is full of great music and lots of energy. Learned a lot about Buddy Holly. The actors performed the music, and there are some good voices there. Tevin plays the part of Tommy Allsup for which he had a week to learn to play the music on his guitar and did a great performance. Recommend seeing the play if you get a chance. The way they handled Buddy’s death was done very well without making the entire show seem sad. Again, the music is very lively and your toes will tap with it.

We had an early Mother’s Day lunch with son, daughter-in-law, and three of our grandchildren. My mother seemed to enjoy seeing the great-grandchildren.

This will be our last stop in Texas for a while, we are heading north where the weather is cooler.
